Every part is thoughtfully created, and each step is meticulously laid out to help you seamlessly install the posts and rails. Simply follow the instructions and you are bound to get a line of stunning fencing that makes a statement. In fact, the instructions are the most important part of the whole installation process. You may find it difficult to get the results you expect if you ignore these requirements, and the warranty might be voided as well.

How to plan and install the Buckley fences?
You receive a much more detailed installation document with your purchase; however, the following 8 steps will give an idea of how to plan and what to expect with the Buckley Post and Rail installation. Step 1: Create a fencing plan
At Stock & Noble, we believe that a job well planned is a job half done. To achieve the fencing, you dream of it is essential to write down your dream on paper.
Once you have a rough sketch in place, we can help you with professional CAD Drawings charting out a detailed fencing plan for your property.
To create an accurate fencing plan, we would also recommend you know exactly where your boundaries are. A land surveyor can assist you with this process.

Step 2: Read the installation instructions
Once you finalise your order of Buckley Steel Fencing with Stock & Noble, we will email you the installation documents. We strongly advise you or your fencing contractor to read and follow the instructions thoroughly.
Buckley Steel Fencing is an engineered system, and every piece has a fixed place. If you fail to stick to the documents the warranty will be considered invalid.
So, before you begin the installation be doubly sure you’ve got all the required installation documents and follow them. It will not only make the installation smoother and faster but give you the fencing you’ll be proud of.
Step 3: Prepare the land for installation
If you are doing it yourself or if you have hired a professional, it’s time to prepare the land. A fencing contractor would probably know all the dos and don’ts of preparing the land for carrying out a successful installation.For example, clearing the trees, shrubs, rocks or dirt that could prove to be an obstacle.
The weather will also influence the installation. Check if the ground is too wet or too dry for installation. In our experience, the best time for fence installation is probably autumn or spring.
Step 4: Mark the spots for posts
Once the ground is well prepared, it’s the right time of the year and you’re ready to install, get a string line. Put it on one end of your land and then mark out where you’re going to put the posts. On those points drill the holes using a power auger.
Buckley Posts and Rails are pre-cut and have fixed dimensions. All you’ve to do is follow the directions as given in the installation document and dig 1-metre-deep holes in the ground.
Step 5: Concrete the posts in
You’re getting closer to owning a stunning Steel Fence on your property. After the holes are all dug, put your posts inside the holes. Once they hit the dirt at the bottom, mix the concrete in a concrete mixer and pour the concrete into the holes.
Remember, the length of Buckley Steel Post is 2.54 metres long, out of which 1.1 metres has to be buried into the ground to give it added strength and stability. The paint on the post is an epoxy layer that protects it from being eaten away by lime and concrete. It’s an added protective feature that’s only available with the Buckley Steel Fencing.
Wait for 24 hours for the concrete to set before you start putting in the rails.
Step 6: Put in the rails
This is where you will get to experience the ease and engineering of the Buckley Fencing System in its full glory.
You need to simply put the rubber grommets into the pre-punched holes in the posts and slide the rails into these slots.
The distance and dimensions of the rails are all pre-set and ready for you to start installing. There is no welding, no tek screws, and thanks to the rubber grommet no place steel touch steel, providing you with the maximum protection against rust.
Unlike other pre-powdered steel fencing options which primarily use screws or welding to attach rails to the posts.
Step 7: Slide in the lock spacer
After installing your rails, finish off the job by sliding in the lock spacer, which as the name suggests locks the rails into their place. Put the cap on top and pound it with a rubber mallet.
Congratulations your Buckley Steel Fencing is installed.
Step 8: Wait for 3 days
While you’re done with the installation of the Buckley Steel Fencing System and are excited to let your horses out, it’s best to wait for 3 days. During this time concrete continues to dry and is prepared to take on the challenges from your favourite animals.
Can the Buckley steel fencing be angled and follow the terrain while installation?
Yes, it can. The rail can move 22 degrees in either direction within that post to achieve the required angle. If needed, you can cut the rail shorter to go around an angle, however, please refer to the installation document. The rail also has enough space to move inside the grommet.
Buckley Steel Fencing can easily be installed on the hills as long as the gradient isn’t over 22 degrees.
How difficult is it to install Buckley Steel Fences?
It’s a modular system that doesn’t need to be cut or welded or screwed in. Buckley Steel Post and Rail fencing is a much easier system to install as compared to Timber and Cattlerail or any other Steel fencing option.
Who can install the Buckley fence on a horse property?
You or any fencing contractor who has experience in installing in your area can easily install the Buckley Steel Posts and Rails. In our experience, many horse owners have installed their own Buckley fencing projects. We again advise you to follow installation instructions to ensure the warranty stays valid.
What materials are needed for the installation of Buckley Post and Rail?
Here’s a list of materials you need to install Buckley Steel Post and Rail. Go ahead and use it for DIY or hand it over to your fencing contractor for a quick reference.
- Post hole digger
- Metal cutting off saw for cutting rails and trimming posts
- Tape measure
- Rubber mallet
- Level
- Pliers
- Wood board cut to 2.8m for spacing gage
- Concrete (approximately two (2) 36 kgs bags per post hole
- String and stakes
Can I use quick-fit concrete to install the Buckley steel fence?
No, the Rapid set concrete cannot be used for installation. We do not recommend it as it doesn’t have the strength that concrete requires for the Buckley fencing system.
How to install Buckley gates?
The process of installing the Buckley steel gates is exactly the same as installing the Buckley Posts and Rails.
- Once the post has been concreted in you can slide the gate over the post and adjust the bearing to level it.
- The only element that’s needed to be attached separately is the latch.
- The latch needs to be lined up with the pin, so it makes contact.
- Then mark and drill 2 1/2 inch holes into your post and then attach your latch as per the instructions.
Should I install the Buckley Post and Rail fence and gates together?
Yes, you should install the fence and gates together.
If you are installing gates, we recommend the very first post that should go into the ground is your end post for your gate. Also, ensure that the gap for the gate is the right spacing and install them together following a fencing plan and instructions on the document provided to you. From the open end of your first gate, you can then install a post to attach your latch and the start of your fence.
