What is Premium Steel Post and Rail Fencing from Stock & Noble? 

Designed for forever properties, Buckley is a steel fencing system engineered for strength and beauty.  

It is made with 2-side pre-galvanised steel and treated with a phosphate conversion coating for added protection and finished with an architectural grade polyester powder coat.  

We also have matching gates with a specifically designed latching system which is horse safe and easy to operate. It is a standalone system. The gates are hinge-less, swing both ways safely and never sag.

Available in 1,2, 3, 4 and 5 rail options, the dimensions of Buckley rail are:  

•        Typical Height of post above ground: 1500mm       (overall post length is 2.54 m )

The rails are 2.9m in length and have a 23° articulation allowance in any (direction (up and down, side to side) within each post-opening to readily accommodate an undulating terrain or installation of a round corral yard. 

This horse fence is pre-cut and highly visible with rounded smooth edges and no nails, screws or fasteners. The length of the rails allows them to flex for improved horse safety.  

The Posts are 2.54 metres long, which is longer than nearly all other post and rail fencing options. They are designed to be buried deep and keep the fence straight and strong for decades.

Stock & Noble premium Post and Rail Steel Fencing is a rectangular-shaped steel board fence with larger posts and rails than any other supplier and is similar in looks to traditional Timber fencing.  

These Posts and Rails are thermally independent, accommodating any slight expansions or contractions that may occur due to the physical properties of metal. It doesn’t matter what the temperature is, the rails remain straight, and the posts are perfectly aligned.

The premium Steel Post and Rail fencing system comes in two colours- black and white. The black option has a matt finish and the white has a gloss finish. The paint finish is an architectural-grade powder coat, it follows the same painting process as your car is painted. It is also combined with zinc phosphate conversion coating.

It’s a well-known fact that steel is a highly durable product. It can survive the worst weather and stay beautiful against most of the pushing and interaction with your animals.

It is no secret that horses have a high risk of ingestion of toxic splinters from wood boards as well as cutting themselves from nails, splinters, shards, and falling boards.

Disadvantages of Premium Steel Post and Rail Fencing 

1. Buckley Steel Horse Fence could become a preferred home for spiders

Since Buckley is a hollow fencing system, it’s a perfect home for spiders. Especially if you don’t use the latching system or gates a lot, the spiders have been known to build their webs inside.  

However, in our experience, not all properties face this issue, and it is largely driven by the location of your property and the prevalence of spiders in your area. 

The best way to get rid of the spiders is when you use pest control services on your property, you can also ask them to spray your fencing line. It should eliminate most of the spiders and solve the problem. 

2. You cannot customise this Premium Steel Post and Rail fence

Buckley is an engineered steel fencing system and comes in standard sizes and options. Within the system, you cannot customise your post sizes or upgrade to larger fence posts.  

However, if you want you can use a brick pillar or other ideas and products to create a great entryway and make a stronger statement along with our premium fence. 

3. Buckley Steel Post and Rail is only available in 2 colours

We offer only two colours in our Premium Steel post and Rail Fencing – Black or White.  

If you are looking for a custom tone, unfortunately, that’s not available with this high-end solution. 

4. The pre-morticed post is in fixed locations

The post spacing and rail positions are pre-manufactured. So, if you want a low fence it cannot be achieved since the bottom rail has a fixed place and will hit the ground if it’s pushed further down. 

5. There’s less room for error in the installation

While installing our engineered fencing system, it’s really important to follow the installation documents fully and completely.  

Every part has its pre-assigned place and an error might not get you the expected results. For example, if you get the post spacing in the wrong location that is too far apart, it’s difficult to fix, because you cannot increase the length of the rails.  

Also, failure to follow the installation documents can make your warranty invalid. 

6. The gates don’t look aesthetically pleasing on a slope

Since the gates are pre-welded and swing on bearings of a vertically installed mounting post, if you want to put your gate location on a sloping fence line, it can look a little unusual. As it doesn’t follow the same gradient as the fencing.  

For aesthetic reasons gates are best to be situated where ground levels are up and not sloping.  Our fencing consultants can help you work through this problem as it can mostly be overcome with good fence planning.  

7. Steep slope can cause the rails to have a visual step

There is a slight visual step in the fencing when it is installed on a steep slope since the rails enter the posts at an angle, but the mortices on either side of the post are levelled.  As a result, the fence rails are visually at an angle and the width of the posts is flat. The angle continues out the other side.
